Handmade Holiday ‘Celebrate’ Card | Patricia Roebuck

Thursday, December 8th, 2016

Hi, Everyone!

This tutorial will showcase another technique to use when creating those handmade holiday cards.

It is no surprise that I love the Lumberjack Days collection for the holidays.  I think gold is the perfect accent to any holiday project, and I think it works so well with this collection for your handmade holiday cards.

The knitted pattern embossing folder from this collection is perfect for Fall and Winter cards.  First, to give this even more of a holiday feel, I used clear pigment ink on the top side of the embossing folder, ran it through the Journey Platinum with white cardstock, sprinkled gold embossing powder over it, and embossed it with the heat gun.  Afterward, I trimmed this down to fit in the middle of my card, layering it over a piece of printed paper from the same collection.

Next, with this striking gold, embossed background, I wanted to continue the elegant, holiday look by die cutting a branch in white cardstock and flowers in more printed paper. Therefore, I die cut the branches again from white foam to give them more dimension, and adhered them together on top of my card.  I then used the Bloom Tool on my flowers to make them curl, used foam adhesive to adhere them, and added white Accent Dots from Make Amazing Happen to attach to the center of each one.

For my sentiment, I combined the dot from the Noteworthy collection along with the ‘celebrate’ from the Celebrations collection.  While using clear pigment ink, I stamped the dots first, and as well as the sentiment on top, poured gold embossing powder over it, and heat embossed. Finally, I trimmed this to attach over my branch and finished the card with Lumberjack Days jean cord.

I used non-traditional Christmas colors, but using the gold embossing powder with the knitted embossing folder and traditional colors would be beautiful also.  I hope you give it a try as you create your gorgeous, handmade holiday cards this year!  Thank you for letting me share.  Have fun creating!
